Haven’t heard this song in 6+ years when I listened to 96kbps mp3s on a $20 2.1 computer speaker. Amazing how different music sounds now on my Audio-Technicas or my vintage Pioneer stereo.

U2be at the 480p resolution above will only give you 128k
MP3 (assuming the source was that good). And it could be as low as 64k
in a 280p stream. I won’t get into compression and mastering for internet-based media....it’s probably mixed for shitty PC speakers.
But, good speakers are always better. Though you’re probably getting TOO much bass now. I take that back, that song probably doesn’t have a limit to how much bass they want to pump.

Yeah, 480p resolution sounds pretty garbage but what bitrate does it give at 1080p? From what I’m reading it mixes to 384kbps AAC in a 1080p@30fps video (10mBps) which most of these musicy videos tend to be. That is *more* than adequate for 99.9999999% of listening situations. What I should do is rip a song from a CD and then download it from Youtube and compare the two in Audacity to see what kind of equalization or compression is going on.
